Train, speed, destination.
There is a lot of information about HS2, the high speed train. The speed of the train will be at a maximum of 140 mph. The train could be carrying up to 20 carriages, seating 338 passengers per carriage. This means that it can carry 508 passenger’s maximum capacity, including standing. There are many different types of trains, which can reach the speed of 140 to 200mph. There are going to be a lot of stations for wherever you need to stop and the manufacturer of the train is Hitachi. The journey time from Ashford International to London is 2 hours, and the High Speed train will be going through Culcheth.
HS2 coming through Culcheth will have a devastating effect. Therefore it will affect some houses and that means many may have to be knocked down. However this will cause problems for families living in these homes and many businesses will be stopped and shut down, such as The Black Swan. This will happen within the next few years, when it could be on the tracks. Many farmers will be affected by this new train line.
The pros of the high speed train, HS2. Journey times from London to Birmingham will be less than one hour. There will also be quick rail links to Manchester and Leeds, effectively bringing us closer to the capital. Investment will provide jobs for those involved in building and running the new HS2. It will be easier to catch.
The cons of the HS2, the high speed train, is that it will cut up farmers land, it will also be VERY noisy and it will destroy homes and businesses. Benefits of improved speed is debatable given that many people can work on laptops away from the office.
We were very lucky to be able to interview Mr Frank Allen from the Culcheth and District Rail Action Group. Please click on the interview to hear more.
